SPEEDOTRON 202VF STROBE HEAD

CONTACT::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The 202VF is a lighter weight strobe head designed for photographers that need to travel with their strobes. It has a plastic housing but still manages to feel very solid. Just like the 102 it has only one switch that turns the modeling light on and off.

I have found them to be every bit as reliable as the 102, but there are a couple design choices I’m not crazy about. They have a more limited range of motion in where you can aim them as compared to the 102. If I wanted I could point the 102 straight up at the ceiling or straight down at the floor. The 202VF can’t do that. The other thing I don’t care for is the huge screw thread and removable collar method of attaching light modifiers. The screw on collar is a bit cumbersome to screw back on after you’ve had to remove it. Especially when there’s a a soft box attached to it. Most of the time I’m able to work around those limitations though. The main reason I have them is that they fit in the light cases and the 102’s don’t. Some lights are better than no lights.
