20mm AF D

CONTACT::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

This used to be our worst lens in terms of sharpness, however we replaced it with another 20mm and the new sample is much better. The new one is sharper wide open than the old one is at f8.

I like this focal length on digital. It works out to roughly the equivalent of a 30mm lens. Lately, this has been the bottom end of my two lens kit. I usually walk around with a D70, a 60mm micro and this 20mm. Oh... and a Lensbaby. So far I haven’t really missed any of the in between focal lengths.

I’m toying with the idea of buying the recently announced Tokina 11-16mm (a range so short it might as well be considered a prime), but I haven’t decided yet. From a physical standpoint I’d prefer something small like the 20 for long trips. The Tokina will be big like the 12-24. However, I hear it’s exceptionally sharp and it would be nice to not have to keep stealing this 20mm from my wife.
